“…get out there today and start failing”

Khoi of Subtraction.com recently spoke at the Otis School of Art and Design commencement. His speech is fantastic and well worth the read. Khoi is a designer I really admire, and even more so now because of his great attitude to failing.
I especially love this bit:

Let your dreams get BEATEN and KICKED AROUND a little, let them leave the cozy confines of your imaginations and live in the REAL WORLD, so that they can realize their full potential.

It’s a scary thing to do, but excellent advice.

Thanks so much. And yes, it’s easier said than done, but taking a chance on things is the only way to see if they’ll yield anything.

I welcome failure, only because success is much more limited to me than the alternative. :)
