What happened to classic horror stories? Tales of werewolves, ghosts and monsters in closets seem to have lost favour with modern horror mags and eZines. Character studies, memoirs, and literary fiction all have their place, but it’s a place far from here. If you’re lost, exit the cemetery, cross those rusty fields (avoiding the scarecrows after dark), and hitch your way to the land of serious. The small space for aspiring horror writers and artists is ever eroding or shifting towards other genres. ShadeWorks is an online publication for lovers of classic horror and dark fantasy; a place where tales and imagery of ghosts and full moons are still welcome and cherished. It’s a place for authors and illustrators to share their dark worlds with the readers and viewers who love them.
