hello perspective

I really am at a loss for words right now with everything going on in Kenya. It seems all too familiar and I wonder how it is possible that such things can be repeated so frequently. Don’t we ever learn? The same people that promised to never let it happen again, are letting it happen again. The current situation is not at the point Rwanda was, but it’s early days and I fear things are just going to get worse. It’s a difficult situation to resolve, but I hope someone is able to find some resolution…soon. I’m baffled and saddened by it all, and it’s times like this I feel utterly feeble and insignificant - not to mention a selfish brat for recently whining about not being able to purchase an iPhone. If that’s my biggest complaint in life, I’ve got it good. Exceptionally good.

I live just outside of Nairobi for a couple of years in the 90s and my heart is breaking.

I was just reading about this horrific situation the other day. I’m not sure if this is fitting to say but while I was reading the article, a single sentence came to my mind from one of my favorite movies, Blood Diamond.

There’s a scene when Dicaprio is talking to jennifer Connelly and he says, “With so much shit going on in this world, it almost seems like God has forsaken this place.” It’s just overall very sad.
